You run with a pace group. Before the start, pick a target pace you can hold for the whole course, then start typing — your typing speed is your running speed. Keep the needle at the bottom inside the green corridor: time on pace is your result, not top speed. Uphill (orange on the course profile) the corridor drops and words get longer; downhill (blue) it rises. Typing faster than the corridor drains your energy — when it runs out, you hit the wall and slow down for a few seconds. Slower than the corridor, energy returns, but the pack pulls away. The first 8 seconds are a warm-up.
